Shams El Birr
Shams El Birr located in 6th of October City on the outskirts of Cairo is a centre for education, rehabilitation and care for challenged children throughout Egypt.

The original centre established in 1991 comprised of one flat but now
due to growing demand the centre is housed in a three storied building which includes high world standard boarding facilities, class rooms, workshops, auditorium, eye clinic, dental clinic, physiotherapy room, well stocked library which caters to the sighted, deaf and blind students, all Braille learning facilities, computers that suit all challenged requirements, children’s club room, safe garden area, vocational training unit and a music room plus incredibly dedicated and loving teachers therapists and staff.
In these impressive, safe, clean surrounds miracles fueled by dedication, love and faith manifest daily. Whenever I take guests to visit Shams El Birr I regularly see tears but never tears of sorrow; my guests only ever shed tears of joy! At Shams El Birr you are blanketed in love and nothing stirs emotion more than love. Tears that flow in love become the
rivers that allow personal pain and hatred to flow from our being! When we see the wonders of Shams el Birr we forget the petty annoyances and burdens of our own lives! This exemplifies the miracle each of us gains from giving! Love another and you truly love and heal the self!
I continually describe Shams El Birr as God in Action and Dr. Morcos its director as an earth angel who works in total faith as he honours the divine guidance he receives daily.

Let me introduce Dr. Morcos, his centre and discuss a little of my involvement with my now dear friend and his amazing family.
As I said, Dr. Morcos is an Earth Angel! I’ve met several in my life so I know the criteria. An Earth Angel to me is someone who honours their spirit and passion in life; they allow it to guide them regardless of any logical perception they possess or any well meaning human advice they receive based on persons logic. Angels do not work in logic! Angels work from inspiration; that place
where a multitude of valuable guidance resides for us each individually if we
dare trust it! We all have the potential to be Earth Angels; we simply have to become inspired; that is we have to get ‘in –spirit’ and trust and work with our own unique inspiration! MORE...

What was your vision in setting up Shams El Birr? |
A: |
To care for the poorest of poor of the disabled and cerebral palsy children in Egypt because they are overlooked. My vision was to help them at absolutely no cost. I simply wanted to help children others had forgotten. |

Because they are the neediest and the most ignored children in our society. |

Nineteen year old Dimaina has become very special to me during the years of
my involvement with Shams El Birr. She has an engaging smile together with a heart so big that it almost wraps itself around all those she meets!
Her firm sincere hugs convey genuine love towards all those who are fortunate enough to experience her embrace. One senses making an eternal connection with this precious young woman as she rarely instigates letting go simply because it seems she never wants to! MORE...
